Dawn Mikkelson, CPA
Dawn Mikkelson graduated Cum Laude from Briar Cliff University in 1981 with a BA in accounting and attained her CPA license shortly thereafter.
Dawn has 30 years of experience in public and private accounting. She is a member of the Iowa Society of CPAs, the AICPA tax section, and AICPA personal financial planning section and the Siouxland Estate Planning Council.
Her experience includes non-profits, healthcare, universities, and other governmental organizations, manufacturing, and the finance industry. She was the CFO for 7 years at Jackson Recovery Centers.
Dawn is a member of the Sioux City Camera Club, and former president. She also is a former board member of Siouxland Artists.
Dawn has been a volunteer coach with many local amateur sports organizations. She is married and has two grown daughters. She enjoys photography, reading, and writing in her spare time.
Terry Lockie, MS, MA
Terry Lockie has 2 master degrees, including one in accounting specializing in taxation. Immediately after getting this degree in 1978, she passed the CPA exam, became a licensed CPA and started working in public accounting.
Terry was the tax manager and treasurer of a Fortune 500 U.S. corporation before starting her CPA consulting firm. She is also a frequent tax, business, and financial lecturer and has published tax articles.
She founded the Estate Planning Council of the Greater Siouxland Area, Inc.
Terry loves animals and music. She and her late husband had several horses, cats, and a dog on their rural Homer, NE acreage. She has 3 children and 7 grandchildren and loves swimming, reading and playing with them.
Her love of music includes singing, directing, and active involvement with several music groups around the Siouxland area.
She is actively involved in church, charitable, and community organizations as well as helping the firm achieve the Bridge 21 Community Service Award.
She also received the Outstanding Volunteer Service Award and the JC Penney Golden Rule Award for her work as Red Cross Chapter Chair during the Flight 232 plane crash.
Bev Reed is our Office Manager and has been with Mikkelson, Lockie and Associates, Inc. since 2005. In addition to her office manager duties, Bev is also a tax preparer, handles some monthly bookkeeping and is the office's Notary Public. She is truly a "Jack of All Trades" and wears many hats here at our firm. She enjoys attending yearly tax classes hosted by Iowa State University and participates in several webinars throughout the year to keep her up-to-date with the latest tax laws.
Jean Woten is our Accountant. She joined Mikkelson, Lockie & Associates, Inc. in December 2018.
Sue Flora is our Administrative Assistant. She is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in administrative support and project management. She has over 15 years’ experience supporting senior level management for some of the top retailers in the country as well as additional expertise in meeting & event planning and trade show operations. Sue was born and raised in Chicago and has also lived in Los Angeles and New York prior to her move to South Dakota in 2013. Sue joined our team as Administrative Assistant in November 2016.
Sue has a passion for art & design and enjoys painting and crafting in her free time. She shares her life with a rambunctious West Highland Terrier named Teddy.
Sue is also a Certified Mastectomy Fitter and enjoys making a difference in the lives of others.
Mattie is our Billing Manager/Bookeeper. She has several years experience as an Office Manager in the Insurance industry in the Siouxland area. Mattie was born and raised in Sioux City where she attended Western Iowa Tech Community College with a major in Associate of Arts.
Mattie enjoys watching movies, listening to local live music, spending time with her son, family and her bloodhound, Georgia.
